Seven Lower Big Blue Natural Resources District board positions were up for election in 2006. Directors elected from the seven sub-districts will serve four-year terms, beginning in January 2007. The board is composed of 13 members, 2 from each sub-district and an at-large position.

Directors of each sub-district must reside within the sub-district and must be a registered voter.

NRD directors whose terms expire in January of 2007 are: Orlalee Zimmerman, DeWitt, Sub-district 1; Wilmer Schlake, Blue Springs, Sub-district 2; Richard Jiskra, Swanton, Sub-district 3; Robert Lorenz, Crete, Sub-district 4 (Due to the establishment of new sub-district boundaries established in 2002, Robert Lorenz now resides in Sub-district 3); Dean Roehr, Beatrice, Sub-district 5; Kenneth Brockman, Beatrice, Sub-district 6; and Norman Stokebrand, DeWitt, At-Large

The General Election was November 7, 2006 with the following results
